FINISHES

There are endless design possibilities for your project, and we are here to help you choose the most timeless and functional options.

COLOURED CONCRETE

Concrete can be tinted to a variety of different shades for an additional cost. If your job entails two different colours such as a border and a fill colour, two separate pours will need to be made. When using coloured concrete, many colour options lean towards a warmer rust tone. To create a more 'neutral' brown effect, customers often mix two shades such as acorn and charcoal.

RELEASE POWDERS & ANTIQUE WASHES

Surface textures can also be enhanced using release powders and antique washes. Release powders are used during the stamping process, where as washes are used on solid concrete surfaces prior to sealing. Both options simply create a more variegated surface colour by placing darker pigment in the surface ridges.

EXPOSED AGGREGATE

Concrete can be finished as exposed aggregate. In this process, the concrete is pressure washed in its semi-hard state to expose the aggregate stone. This finish will require yearly sealing, but is quite durable. Exposed aggregate concrete is known to be somewhat slippery when wet.

'BROOM' FINISH

Broomed concrete is one of the most cost effective and carefree finishes. Broomed concrete should be sealed if it is driven on to prevent staining, but only requires sealing every two years or so. This finish also provides the best non-slip surface for damp or wet areas.

STAMPED CONCRETE

Another finish option is stamped concrete. Stamped concrete comes in two different forms: texture mats (subtle natural surface texture) or stamps (defined stone patterns with lines). Stamped finishes do require annual sealing and can be slippery in damp or wet surfaces, but overall provide a very natural stone look.

HAND SWIRL

In this finish, a decorative swirl is applied to the wet concrete surface in a uniform pattern. Hand swirl is cost effective and a durable non slip surface.

POWER TROWEL

A power trowel finish uses a machine to create a smooth concrete surface. This finish is typically used in a space such as a shop, garage or basement. This finish can also be achieved by hand in a smaller space.

BORDERS

Another unique option can be to use borders for your concrete pad, driveway or walkway. Borders are created by pairing either two different finishes or two different colours of concrete. This process does require multiple pours, but creates greater visual interest.
